To Every Member,

Thank you for your loyal patronage to the Knit Sewing Club U.S.A., and through your beautiful sewing a part of our company will always be in America.

It's with a heavy heart that I have decided to shut down our business, due to the major disaster in Japan. On my last visit in March this year, as some members may remember, we discussed how the Japanese company was supporting the U.S. stores, but because of a sluggish Japanese economy that would be ending this year. After that March visit, a major Earthquake occurred in eastern Japan, which has crippled the Japanese stores and company, 17 sewing clubs destroyed and because of sluggish domestic consumption we are now forced to close 11 stores by the end of July. Therefore, because of the uncertainty of the state of Japan, Knit Sewing Club can no longer support the retail business unit of the Sewing Club U.S.A. I sincerely apologize to every Member of the Knit Sewing Club U.S.A, we will continue business as normal until July 30th, from then our system will change and we will close our doors September 30.

So, starting on July 1st, each store will be open the same hours, classes will be normal tuition until August 1st, then become individual not monthly; fabric, samples and patterns will go on sale.  We will be taking orders until the end of July, anything that is ordered will be not be discounted such as sewing machines, signature fabric ect. Note the last day to order name tags is July 15th.

For those of you who have purchased a sewing machine, if there ever is a need for service or fixing “Mel’s Sewing Machine and Repair” melssewing.com (714)774-3460 (714)669-0583 will be able to help with any Knit Sewing Machine, please come into our store to review maintenance on your machine before we close.

  • Irvine and Torrance will be open the same store hours as now.

  • Fabric and Patterns and Books will be 50% off. Samples $20.00.

The knit Sewing Club is a Japanese based company with stores and members all over Japan. Here in America half of our staff and members are Japanese. We all have many friends and family in Japan.

Ayukawa the President of the Knit Sewing Club said, "Thankfully we have no human life casualties, unfortunately we have lost about 25 stores. With the electrical blackouts, gasoline & water rations, 100 of stores have had to be shut down. "

One of our Irvine member’s familes house is on the Rikusen Takata sea front hit by the tsunami. She called to tell us "I put a message up on the internet search site, that I was looking for my mom, dad and sisters family, my cousin saw the message, found out information about my family and got it back to me. Cousins Rock!"

We are a fabric store specializing in exclusive Japanese knit fabric, we also have classes on how to make professional looking clothing out of the fabric in an hour. It is quick, fun and easy and we want to continue the happy and fun club like atmosphere for all our current and prospective members.
